Dive site description: This dive is featured in the book and on the internet site "50 Dives in 50 States". It got special mention for one of the best and most unique dives in the United States. This is a must dive for all scuba divers diving in Oregon. It must be experienced at least one time. Water is extremly cold running in the mid 30's. The water temp changes only 1 - 2 degrees between summer and winter. Visability is easily 300 feet at the back of the lake and down to 5 feet in the larger part. Petrified trees, volcanic formations and cold water springs abound. The underwater plant life is unique and abundant. Bouyancy must be mastered before diving here. DO NOT touch the bottom. The silt will take days to settle. Have fun! |
