Lumber Dock

Review #58
Bill Osburn (bill97045 at yahoo dot com)
January 1, 2004
Location: Garabaldi, OR USA
Dive Type: Salt Water Facilities: Parking
Hazards: short climb down a few rocks
Entry: moderate shore Surface Swim: none
Difficulty: novice Typical depth: 12
Dive site rating: 6 Max depth: 22
Dive site description:
Entry is fairly easy but be careful a couple of the big rocks are loose and can move when you are climbing on them. Once down to the water all you have to deal with is smaller rocks and the pier is good to steady yourself against. There are many clams and smaller crabs here once and a whil a few decent crabs but not to many fish. Usually vis is about 3 to 6 ft although in mid November on a rainy day the vis was over 20ft maybe 25 in some spots. Not too much to see here but the current is fairly decent so it makes a good second dive after the Barview Jetty or a good back up dive if the swells are to high.
Directions:
From downtown Garabaldi just follow the gravel parking lot towards the coast gaurd station. Instead of going into the parking lot of the station follow the lot to the left (towards the water)look for the old L shaped dock right next to the helicopter landing pad.
