Dive site description:
This site is a good place to if you want to just get wet and do a dive in the Sound. Its an easy walk from the parking lot to the beach and if you want to carry your gear down to the park and reserve a picnic table for your self you can gear up down there too. The dive isnt all that exciting, a very gradual slope. If you take a 280 heading directly in front of the wind pavilion you will find the pipline or a submerged line directing you to the pipline. When you get to the pipeline go towards shore and you will come to the junction box which has a line attached to it which will take you to 1 of two sunken boats (this one being the bigger one). The smaller boat is just North of the pipeline 25ft or so (12 ft boat=shell) and lifesize statues of Santa and Frosty are there to greet you, and there is a resident Octopus in the bow of the boat. You can see many shells where it has been feeding. There are showers right next to the beach to rinse you gear off and parking cost $4.00 per day. Its not such a bad dive.
Directions:
From Portland take I-5 North to Exit 119 (Steilacoom). Take left at Exit cross freeway overpass and take immediate right turn and take road into Steilacoom (around 5-8 miles) When you get to the town take the waterfront road (not sure of the name) easy to find though and take that 1-2 miles to you see the park on the left hand side.
