Dive site description: Dive 1:
This was my first dive of our camping trip. Jon didn't bring his gear this year, so I did a solo dive. I found a lot of "goodie," including a cup (with a crayfish hiding inside), a dirty tee-shirt, a dozen golf balls, and a nice digital watch in perfect working order except it had a broken band. The water was very clear, but not much to see. I could see very little for 70' all around me, just a couple of trout and a few crayfish.
Dive 2:Another solo dive, exploring the other half of the area. The bottom was grassy from about 4 feet to 10 feet, then flattened out to bare squishy mud. There was a definate thermocline around 34', hence the max depth of 35'. Still not much to see, except a small school of small trout in the grassy area. I also found a broken watch with a functional watch band, which I combined with the good watch from the first dive, giving Blake his first wristwatch!
Dive 3:
This was a hunt for crawdads, using a net made from plastic netting that the kids' sand toys came in, with a juggling ring stuffed in the mouth to hold it open. I came back from this dive with 30 crawdads, which we cooked up and ate within minutes of bringing them to shore. Jon mixed up some butter and lime sauce, and they were quickly devoured.
