Dive site description:
First dive:

This was a Saturday trip to Hood Canal, in the Hoodsport area. Jorsted Creek is a little pull-off on 101, about big enough for three or four cars. It was a club dive, but we showed up just as everyone was just getting done. Therewas supposed to be a wall between 60 and 80 fsw, but we heard it was hard to find, which it was, as we never found it either! Anyway, at the start of the dive, in the shallows, the water was very murky from the mixture of fresh water and salt water. Once we dropped below about 25' the visibility cleared up to around 20 feet. This site is mostly a mud bottom, with some little shrimp and a couple of crabs. Anyway, we aimed for where we were told the wall would be, but didn't find it. We headed down the rapidly-descending slope to around 100 to 115 fsw, where we found a bunch of sea-whips, which are two to three foot tall white feather-like anemone creatures. We also saw one really beautiful pink swimming anemone, and a gorgeous blood-red burrowing sea cucumber on one boulder that we stumbled onto.

Second dive:

We headed out in search of the deeper wall. It took us a while to find it. The visibility was not very good, maybe 10 to 12 feet. We travelled out along the muddy bottom, spotting several crabs, large anemone and a handful of nudibranchs. When we reached sea whips, we turned South in search of the wall. By this time, things got pretty dark below 90'. We finally found the base of the wall, and started exploring it. We slowly followed the wall upward, finding a couple more nudibranchs, one a white one with a yellow mane, very cool critter. Unfortunately we found no octopus or wolf eels, but it was a great dive nonetheless.
