Dive site description: Mike and I took the Waverunners to Hoodsport and Dive, where we met up with Dan, Dawn and Shell. They then drove to Octopus Hole, while Mike and I took the Waverunners (I think our trip was more fun than theirs!). We headed out in search of the "real" Octopus Hole, as I hear most divers don't actually find the hole, just the reefs around there. Dawn found it, and Dan may have too, but the rest of us never did. We found a wall that was covered with a whole bunch of small nudibranchs, feather-like in shape, and each little tentacle-like protrusion was white with a yellow tip. I still didn't have my flashlight, and my little back-up light must have been turned on earlier, because it was burnt out. Dawn lent me her backup light half-way through the dive, which helped a lot. Hard to find wolf eels without one. I was really enjoying wearing a drysuit, finally being comfortably warm during dives, between dives, and when riding the Waverunners (thanks for bringing them, Mike!) |
