December 18, 2004 We've just moved into our new home in Tigard, with the help of Glenda, Gary and my buddy Tim. Our new carpet was being installed at the same time, so we had to stack everything in the garage until some of the rooms were done, but 15 hours later we had all our stuff at the new house and were able to close the garage door. Cosmo took to the house immediately, but the cats were pretty freaked out, at least until the carpet people stopped banging around.

November 22, 2004 We're buying a new home in Tigard which we're very excited about. It is much larger than our current house, in a very nice neighborhood, and much closer to work.

November 2, 2004 We decided to move to the Beaverton or Tigard area, since Becky and Scott both work there. Corey and Blake are both excited to move as well. We're in the process of preparing our house to sell, and looking for a new home.

August 9 - August 14, 2004 We all went camping at Cultus Lake with the Edwards family, Julie, the Lyalls, and some other family friends. The weather was perfect for camping by the cool, clear lake, staying in the 90's the whole time. We did the usual swimming, snacking, hiking, napping, reading, boating, diving, watching the meteor showers, catching frogs, shooting BBs, and other forms of relaxation.

June 12, 2004 We have a new addition to our family, a kitten we named Alfalfa. We found him in a woodsy area, inside a big patch of blackberry bushes, meowing at us as if he needed help. After a few minutes of calling to him, he came out and went to Blake. We brought him home, where so far he's fitting in nicely. He and our other cat, Mittens, are wary of one another, but seem to be getting more comfortable around each other gradually. He's very playful and cute, like most kittens, and has a nice disposition.
Becky picked up a litter box for him, which he used less than 5 minutes after she set it down. Since then he hasn't had any accidents. We're gradually moving it toward the door, then to the garage, then outside, until he gets used to going outside. We want him to be an indoor/outdoor cat like Mittens is.

May 2, 2004 Continuing on our quest to fix up the house, we stained the deck. It turned out a little more red than we expected, but it looks really nice. It's some kind of silicone-based stain, which is supposed to be a lot more durable than regular stain. A nice side-effect of it is that it is not slippery at all when wet like it used to be. It's almost sticky, like rubber.

April 22, 2004 We got a new floor in the kitchen, finally finishing the remodel. Hurray! It's laminate flooring similar to Pergo, looks like hard wood, and matches the cabinets. Now the room that used to be the ugliest is now the prettiest. :)

March 18, 2004 Happy 15th Wedding Anniversary Scott and Becky!
Becky and I actually celebrated our anniversary a couple weeks earlier, spending a couple nights at the beach. It'd been a long time since we had a vacation without the boys, and it was a relaxing get-away.

March 13, 2004 We took a short weekend trip to Newport with the Potter family. Eric, Corey and I did a couple of dives in Yaquina Bay, looking for crabs. The first dive didn't have much to offer, except low visibility. The second dive, however, was much more fun. The visibility had cleared quite a bit, and since we started the dive just before dusk, it ended as a night dive. When it got dark, lots of fish showed up, apparently attracted by our flashlights. Corey said he would have been nervous had he known it would end up a night dive, but since it came on gradually, it wasn't scary. The only scary part was climbing back up the slippery jetty. Chris cut her leg on the rocks, and ended up getting it cleaned by a doctor, as it was packed with seaweed.
We all got rooms at a hotel, ate pizza and chicken, then headed to bed. The next morning, we went out to breakfast, then on a couple geocaches with the Potters.

February 7, 2004 We had our kitchen remodelled. Our old cabinets were in very poor shape, with half the lower doors torn off by the boys when they were younger, and the old counter-tops were ugly and worn. We opened up the kitchen design a bit, got new cabinets, pretty green counter-tops, under-cabinet lights, new paint and other details. We also installed a new stove and sink. It's made a huge difference. Now we just need to do something about the ugly 70's style linoleum...

January 7, 2004 We had a big ice storm in Oregon last week, which shut most businesses down for three days. I stayed home all three days, working from home as much as possible. Becky worked a few hours on two of the days. The only way to get around Oregon City was with chains. Our street was covered with a solid layer of ice just over an inch thick.

January 1, 2004 Happy New Year!
We went to Jon and Glenda's house for New Years party, and played games with lots of family and friends. New Years morning brought some surprise snow, and chains were required to drive in I-5. We ended up snowed in all morning, but borrowed some chains to get us home in the afternoon.
